Kandi animal patterns

Choose a pair of koi, an amber moth or a small animal face. Every design has an editable chart and a colour list, ready for your own palette.

Animals across a whole panel

Swimming koi & outstretched wings

Start with a complete scene. Both designs include a background and border, with every bead counted.

Colour letters are our chart symbols, not manufacturer SKUs. Screen colours are approximate; match your own beads.

Start smaller: five animal faces

A nine-bead face has room for a silhouette and not much else. The five faces below use three to five colours and a dark outline to keep their shapes readable.

Keep the face centred and leave at least one empty row under the chin — the repeat below will otherwise merge into the jaw.

Making an animal cuff

Each face is nine columns wide. This is a colour motif, not a complete cuff or Peyote/X-base stringing diagram. Plan repeats using a test strip in your chosen stitch.

If the animal is the whole design, string the background in a colour that contrasts with the outline. If it is one motif among several, give it a row of black or white on each side to separate it from the next pattern.

Work out your bead count first, then come back and pick a chart. Want your own pet on the cuff instead? Turn a photo into a kandi pattern at nine rows, then fix the eyes by hand. For more designs, browse the kandi patterns library or the kandi ideas gallery.
